April Let’s Act! – Make ’em Laugh!

posted in: Info | 0

Our next Let’s Act! acting workshop at 8.00pm on Wednesday 15th April 2026 and will be led by David Thompson in the Rehearsal Room at the CryerArts Centre. David is one of our most exeprienced leaders of our Let’s Act! workshops and they are always great fun. This month’s promises to be just as much fun too.

From silly to witty, from sight to sound, from Buster Keaton to Diane Keaton!
From Stoppard to Shakespeare, from Wilde to Wycherley, from Beckett to Bennett!

What makes us laugh, or simply smile? How do we make audiences laugh or smile?

This month’s Let’s Act! workshop will explore the business of COMEDY from its origins of physical movements and facial expressions, its use of contrasts, of passive and active human reactions, and on to vocalisations and finally verbal expressiveness and jocular utterances, accents, warm and cool humour, leading on to civilised wit. The session will involve the usual group work, pair work, and script work in small groups. People without a sense of humour are welcome to acquire one here! People already with one will be delighted to attend!

Whether you are an experienced SADC member or a potential new member, keen to find out what it’s all about, join Dave for some acting practice performing some of the best comedy to have appeared on British stages. Don’t miss this enjoyable evening.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Please note that these evenings are free to members with an up to date membership or to anyone over 18 years old wishing to try a Let’s Act! workshop event for the first time. A charge of £3 will be made for all other attendees.
