The set designer works closely with the director to create a set which can transport the audience to the play’s setting, and works for the actors to move around.

Once a sketch and set plan have been created, a scale model is produced.

The scale model helps the set designer understand how the set works for the actors. It also helps the director and the actors visualise the set and the space before they see it in the theatre.
